We congratulate Unilever with moving into their new Foods Innovation Centre at the University & Research Campus in Wageningen! Fokkema & Partners is proud to have been responsible for the complete interior design, which includes a pilot plant, a food and costumer experience area, five innovation kitchens and two levels of labs and offices.
From three different locations, the Unilever research and development teams moved in to their new innovation powerhouse last week, with one key mindset: to exchange knowledge and collaborate with students, start-ups, knowledge centres, NGO’s, and other companies involved in the global search for healthy and sustainable foods innovations. Over the course of three years of design and construction, Unilever was able to realise an energy-neutral building. They achieved two BREEAM awards and - taking the circular design ambition for the interior to new levels - the building is now furnished completely with re-used furniture.
The Foods Innovation Centre - nicknamed Hive - will be officialy opened by King Willem-Alexander on December 6th. More project information and photos will follow soon.
