Complementing an extensive 60.000 m2 redevelopment in Amsterdam West, EDGE Technologies set out to envision a captivating concept for the interior of the building. They invited Fokkema & Partners to generate a design for the expressive semi-public spaces, the atrium, reception and the office floors.
The interior concept design for EDGE Amsterdam West radiates the focus of EDGE Technologies on sustainability, wellbeing and seamless incorporation of technology. All efforts are tailored to ultimately offer an inspiring, interactive and super comfortable place to work with minimal impact on our natural world.
Large continuous floorplates, measure up to 7.000m2 and offer unique possibilities for the companies that will inhabit EDGE Amsterdam West. The design showcases the unique characteristics of the building, by introducing well-defined zones and presenting several studies for more open and more closed office typologies. In the glass covered atrium the lush planting with integration of an enticing juice bar is precisely configured in order to really activate the space, adding character and scale. Signage on the building cores in the atrium adds to the orientation while carefully dosed use of wood will make the space feel natural, yet bright.
The transformation of the 70’s office building is designed by de Architekten Cie. and features a massive new glass dome. It will meet the highest sustainability standards and is a key development in this area of Amsterdam. EDGE Amsterdam West has already attracted two major tenants, pension delivery organization APG and the energy network provider Alliander. The building is scheduled to be delivered in 2021.
