On January 30th, the team of Fokkema & Partners Architecten celebrated the festive opening of the European head office, located at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. President Yozo Shimano from Japan traditionally opened the new state-of-the-art office building that offers a spacious, bright work environment for 180 employees with an emphasis on technology and nature. The building achieved a four star BREEAM rating.
The Japanese multinational Shimano is a market leader in the development and production of high quality bicycle components, fishing tackle and rowing equipment. Complementary to the new building (designed by RAU), the interior has a technologically advanced look-and-feel and at the same time it provides a warm work environment. The workspaces are designed in such a way that employees can alternate between places to work quietly and inspiring places to meet.
The interior of the new head office of Shimano was designed with the company’s mission statement in mind: ‘to promote health and happiness through the enjoyment of nature and the world around us’. The design focuses on providing the physical space for experiencing the Shimano products and services, whilst generating the mental space for employees to create dedicated campaigns for Shimano in Europe.
